European Union in Tunisia
The European Union works with its neighbors in the South and East in the frame of its policy of neighborhood, to promote peace, stability and the economic prosperity of the region by supporting political and economic reforms.
Tunisia is at the heart of this European policy. A European Union Delegation has been present since 1979 with the mission of managing the bilateral cooperation between the EU and Tunisia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and other sectoral ministries. In Tunisia, the EU is particularly engaged in the topics of democracy, environment, and sustainable development, and it actively supports the process of democratic transition and decentralization of the country.
